Meet your guide, Murillo
Born in Rio de Janeiro, raised in the Netherlands. Murillo looks foreign, but is a true Carioca. His passion is food, bars, Fluminense and his wife (not exactly in this order, of course).
He started Taste Rio in 2018 to share the side of Copacabana he loves most with visitors: the botecos, the petiscos and the people behind the counter.

Questions
What is a boteco?
A boteco is where locals in Rio go for a cold beer, good food and a good conversation. Sitting down at the bar is part of our culture: it's where friends meet and neighbours catch up over small plates (petiscos). The Bar Food Tour takes you to four of them in Copacabana.
Can vegetarians join?
The tour isn't suitable for vegetarians or vegans. Rio bar food is built on meat and seafood, so you would miss most of the plates. Pescatarians are welcome: tell us when you book.
Is Copacabana safe at night for a food tour?
We've run this tour since 2018 without a single incident. Murillo is a local who knows Copacabana's streets well, and you stay with him as a small group (max 8) all evening. As in any big city, bring only what you need and keep your phone out of sight on the street.
I'm travelling solo. Will the tour run?
Yes, even if you're the only guest. If another date has more people booked, we may offer you the option to switch and share a bigger table, but it's always your choice.
